Planning of a precast concrete factory with a high degree of automation for modern precast concrete elements
Wöhrl, a family-owned company now in its fifth generation, has been producing high-quality precast slabs at its Wolfersdorf site for over 30 years. The company is especially well known for its precast brick-lined slabs, which are primarily used in residential construction.
As the existing plant was becoming increasingly outdated, the decision was made to build a new, modern plant at a new location.
Prilhofer Consulting, an experienced industry expert and factory planner, was engaged to develop the master plan for the site and to design the new facility.
The concept of the new plant with a high level of automation and state-of-the-art technology now also includes the possibility of producing double walls and solid walls with high productivity and quality in addition to slabs in the future.
Site and precast factory planning: from the concept to execution
After just a few months of planning, the detailed site plan with transport and material flow planning as well as the layout and technical concept for Wöhrl's new production facility were completed.
The following authorisation and funding process in Germany was a major challenge and required a considerable amount of patience and expertise.
Construction of the new production building with a floor area of 4,200 m² and an additional 1,500 m² of platform space finally began in early 2024. The first pallet was concreted in March 2025 - a significant step for Wöhrl. In addition, a double wall was produced for the first time in the company's history, which represents an important achievement.
Start-up of the new precast concrete plant at the new location
With the successful relocation of its entire production to the new plant at the end of April 2025, Wöhrl has reached a significant milestone in its more than 150-year company history. The new facility will guarantee the competitiveness and high quality for decades to come.
For an investment of this dimension and a further milestone in the company's history, it was particularly important for Wöhrl to obtain a safe, technically, and commercially viable concept for the new precast production facility at the new plant location that was customised to its own specific requirements.
Another key reason for engaging Prilhofer Consulting was for Wöhrl to have an experienced and independent partner on board, despite the company's own considerable knowledge and competence, in order to ensure that the realisation of the precast project can proceed as efficiently as possible and with minimal risk.
Wöhrl Ziegel & Fertigteile is a brick and concrete plant in one, making it unique in Bavaria. In addition to bricks and prefabricated brick elements such as solid roofs and wall elements, the factory in Berghaselbach also manufactures precast concrete elements. Wöhrl can therefore offer its customers a comprehensive range of more than 80 products.
